The private collection of Dr. Arthur Feldmann (1877 – 1941), with its approximately 800 drawings by Dürer, Rembrandt, Poussin, and others, numbers among the most important of its era. Following the Nazis’ occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939, Feldmann’s villa was confiscated along with the artworks he kept there, and Feldmann himself was to survive for only a short time thereafter.
Later on, years of intensive research by members of his family led to these works on paper being found and restituted. With this presentation, the ALBERTINA Museum celebrates the exceptional gift of 30 master drawings by Uri Peled-Feldmann, the collector’s grandson.
