Lee Miller (1907 – 1977) numbers among the most fascinating artists of the 20th century.
In only 16 years, the American photographer captured the beating pulse of her times in a multifaceted photographic oeuvre that brings together the most varied genres: she created surrealist photographic works together with Man Ray in Paris before going on to produce modernist photos of Egyptian landscapes and, beginning in 1940, pictures that documented the disastrous consequences of Second World War.
Her efforts from 1929 onward brought forth icons of portrait and war photography, which are now to see their first-ever presentation in Austria.
